About

I am a Clinical Psychologist in Gardens Cape Town.

I have a Masters’ Degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Stellenbosch and am registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa and The Board of Healthcare Funders.

I worked in independent private practice since 1996 doing adult and adolescent psychotherapy, as well as being a consultant psychologist for various clinics in Addiction Treatment, Dual Diagnosis and Eating Disorder Units.

Apart from individual psychotherapy, I also ran a weekly grief group for many years, a weekly staff support group for mental health care workers, supervised other psychologists, presented psycho-educational lectures and was a treatment professional for the National Responsible Gambling Programme.

I underwent supervision in the Dutch Mental Healthcare system and am also registered as a Mental Healthcare Psychologist in the Netherlands.

I was also the Clinical Director of an inpatient dual diagnosis and addiction treatment facility for 9 years, leading the treatment team and programme for patients with various mental health and addiction difficulties.

In my private practice in Cape Town I offer individual psychotherapy for a broad range of psychological issues which clients need assistance with.

My approach is integrative, drawing on various modalities to best suit the client’s particular needs and issues. I am passionate about psychology and assisting people to live more fulfilling lives. I believe in our innate resourcefulness as human beings and our unlimited potential.

I offer both short-term and long-term individual therapy for a variety of issues, for persons age16 years and older.

The psychotherapy consultation starts with an initial assessment, in which the client will discuss what it is they would like to achieve or change. Based on these needs of the client and the overall assessment, various goals or plans are formulated for the therapeutic process.

My psychotherapeutic approach is eclectic and informed by various modalities, including Person Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Mindfulness Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Psychodynamic Therapy.

The practice offers both face-to-face and online therapy.

I also offer Supervision for other psychologists or counsellors.

Professional fees:

The practice charges fees which are broadly aligned with medical scheme tariffs.

Please feel free to enquire with me about the current rate per session.

I run a cash practice which means that invoices are settled directly with me. You can still claim the funds back from your Medical Scheme, by submitting the paid invoice. If you do have a Medical Scheme, it is advisable to contact them prior to therapy to enquire about your annual benefit for psychological services.
